A Vintage High Tea

Wow where do I start, I have been so busy with planning three parties to running my business to enjoying my kids and making sure they receive lots of attention and are occupied, its a juggling act but lucky to be good at multi-tasking and also thrive on it.

The High Tea turned out so well, a few things I never got around to doing but luckily I had a little help with positioning the table and to make sure everything was where it should and all deserts where in shot. I was so nice to sit down and enjoy and have a lovely time with the girls and also whats more fun then two kids tables too, and of course a girls and a boys one to be fair as the two boys in question are as far from girly as you can get and are very much typical rough and tough boys that's for sure.

I will up load some recipes and will share my good friends recipe for the most Delicious vanilla slice, its just heavenly.

Lemon Mini Cakes

Just a quick post with the Lemon Mini Cakes for the high tea tomorrow, which will be a long post, so here is part one.

I think I have a new required taste, well for these cakes that is, just divine and were so much nicer than I thought.

185g (3/4 cup) butter, softened
190g (3/4 cup)  caster sugar
3 large eggs at room temperature
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
185g (1 1/4 cups) self-raising flour
4 tablespoons Lemon juice
I also add yellow food colouring for a little extra and then a basic glaze mix over top which consists of Pure Icing sugar and bit of butter and milk.

Tea for two

Here are some sneak peak pictures of a practice cake made for our up and coming high tea, fiddled around with the recipe and added some stewed Apples and a brown sugar base and top to give it an extra sweetness, and lots of Cinnamon and mixed spices..

Just lovely and a definite winner in this house.

Make Bake and Sew = A busy few weeks

We have been super busy here, with organising three parties and getting things in order and searching for wonderful new items for these parties, its just so exciting, and a little time consuming but all fun.

Today is a bit of a baking day, trying a new cake recipe for the Vintage High Tea table I am putting together in two weeks. Along with looking at lovely things to make, bake and sew which in itself has two benefits I love it and I can get my little angels to help and whats better than that.

I have always loved anything with Apple and Cinnamon, and add Cinnamon sugar to literally everything I am eating (with in reason of course). Give me Apple and Cinnamon cereal, bars, yogurt, cakes, cookies, ice-cream, the list is just oh so endless, and four words I AM IN HEAVEN.
So for a pretty high tea with vintage flair and old fashioned style there is nothing better than the smell of Apple and Cinnamon together don't you think ?

Also so excited as my new cake stands from the USA arrived and are just the perfect compliment for this high tea and will be absolutely fabulous for the table. White, Lace and Crystal's, we love it.

And just lovely that I get to pull out all the fine china and heirlooms for this pretty affair given its at my place and not travelling with these cherished items as some are over one hundred and fifty years old and sure they are great to look at and are beautiful but whats life if you cannot enjoy what you have, I use this theory with everything from perfume to clothing to shoes to fancy china the list goes on, no point these things sitting there gathering dust looking pretty, enjoy them and life.

Stayed tuned for a few sneak peaks later today.

A step back to Alice in Wonderland

I thought I would add the Alice in Wonderland party from last year as was having a quick look through the photos and enjoying the smiles from the day

My daughter absolutely loved this party and has already picked her next one for this year which we have started the look book on for ideas and colours and I love getting her input too as she has very good taste this little girl of mine and after all it is her party.

But before her party is my other sons in May which is also underway and very exciting.

So here are some pictures from a Alice in Wonderland day.

The Alice Cake. This sponge and butter cream is a favorite of mine to make
